Evolution of Women Roles in Policing
Evolution of Women’s Roles in Policing
The role of women in policing has expanded over the last two centuries. Traditionally, women’s roles in policing were limited to social work in correction facilities, working with vulnerable groups and children. However, women’s roles have expanded to match those of men. The inclusion of women has led to enhanced social changes, inclusivity and reduction of gender-based biases and stereotypes. Also, the inclusion of women has enhanced their participation in law enforcement, leading to operational efficiencies and effectiveness.
